Stock market closed with slight gains, investors lost Rs 19 thousand crores
New Delhi. There was continuous ups and downs in the domestic stock market throughout the day today ahead of the second round of peace talks between America and Iran. Today’s trading started with gains.
After the opening of the market, a tussle started between the bulls and bears, due to which the movements of both the Sensex and Nifty indices also kept going up and down. After the entire day’s trading, Sensex closed with a slight rise of 0.03 percent and Nifty by 0.05 percent.
Today, there was continuous buying in shares of automobile and PSU bank sectors during the day’s trading. Similarly, Capital Goods, Consumer Durable, Oil and Gas and Public Sector Enterprise indices also closed with gains.
On the other hand, there was continuous selling pressure in shares of IT, realty and telecom sectors. Similarly, FMCG, Healthcare, Metal and Tech indices also closed with a decline.
There was general selling pressure in the broader market today, due to which the Nifty Midcap index closed with a weakness of 0.18 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today’s trading with a decline of 0.45 percent.
Despite slight strength in the stock market today, due to selling in midcap and smallcap shares, the wealth of stock market investors reduced by about Rs 20,000 crore.
The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 465.45 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day of last week i.e. Friday was Rs 465.64 lakh crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 19 thousand crore from today’s trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,578 shares in BSE in the day’s trading. Of these, 1,840 shares closed with gains, while 2,548 shares were in a declining trend and 190 shares closed without any movement.
There was active trading in 2,978 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,123 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,855 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss.
Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 12 shares closed with gains and 18 shares closed with decline. Out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 23 stocks closed in the green mark and 27 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 139.36 points at the level of 78,632.90 points. As soon as trading started, competition started between buyers and sellers in the market. With the support of buying, Sensex jumped 448.91 points to reach the level of 78,942.45 points.
Due to selling pressure, this index fell by 290.24 points to the level of 78,203.30 points. After the whole day’s trading, Sensex ended today’s trading at the level of 78,520.30 points with a slight gain of 26.76 points.
Like Sensex, NSE’s Nifty jumped 37.95 points today and started trading at 24,391.50 points. Shortly after the market opened, a tussle started between the bulls and bears, due to which the movement of Nifty also started going up and down.
With the support of buying, Nifty gained 127.10 points and reached the level of 24,480.65 points. Due to selling pressure, this index fell by 112.30 points to 24,241.25 points. After the whole day’s trading, Nifty closed at 24,364.85 points with a slight gain of 11.30 points.
Today, after the buying and selling done throughout the day, among the big stocks of the stock market, Trent Limited, JSW Steel by 2.76 percent, State Bank of India by 2.55 percent, Asian Paints by 2.14 percent and Grasim Industries by 1.46 percent joined the list of today’s top 5 gainers.
On the other hand, Jio Financial joined the list of today’s top 5 losers with a weakness of 2.75 per cent, Hindalco Industries 2.29 per cent, TMPV 1.22 per cent, Kotak Mahindra 1.15 per cent and Bharat Electronics 1.12 per cent.
