Australia’s Peter Siddle withdraws from Vitality Blast, shock to Nottinghamshire
London . Former Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has withdrawn his name from this year’s Vitality Blast T20 tournament due to personal reasons. This has dealt a big blow to the Nottinghamshire team.
The 41-year-old Siddle, who returns to Trent Bridge for the entire tournament this summer, previously played for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship in 2014. That season, he took 37 wickets in 11 first-class matches and played a key role in helping the team finish fourth in the First Division. Peter Siddle has also represented teams like Durham, Essex, Lancashire and Somerset during his county career and is considered an experienced player in English domestic cricket.
Nottinghamshire’s director of cricket Mick Newell said: “We are disappointed that Siddle will not be able to join the team this summer. We were excited to take advantage of his experience and skills. He further said that the team will now look for a suitable replacement player for the tournament. Siddle’s departure may impact the team balance of Nottinghamshire, especially as his lack of experience in the T20 competition will be felt.
