Bombay High Court: 4 accused in 2006 Malegaon bomb blast case acquitted
Mumbai The Bombay High Court on Wednesday acquitted four accused in the 2006 Malegaon bomb blast case in Nashik district. The court said that there is not enough evidence against these four accused and has also ordered to cancel the order of the special NIA court in this case.
According to advocate Kaushik Mhatre, charges were framed against these four accused Rajendra Chaudhary, Dhan Singh, Manohar Ram Singh Narwaria and Lokesh Sharma by the special NIA court in September 2025. The NIA order was challenged in the High Court. This petition was heard on Wednesday before the division bench of Chief Justice Chandrashekhar and Justice Shyam Chandak. After cross-examination, the court considered the evidence presented against these four accused to be insufficient and ordered the acquittal of all four accused.
On September 8, 2006, four bomb blasts took place in Malegaon city of Nashik district. Three of these took place inside the Hamidia Mosque and Bada Kabaristan, while the fourth took place at Mushawarat Chowk. The initial investigation into this incident was done by ATS and nine people were arrested in this case. After this, the investigation of this case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and NIA arrested Rajendra Chaudhary, Dhan Singh, Manohar Ram Singh Narwaria and Lokesh Sharma in this case.
After this, the special NIA court had acquitted the nine accused arrested by the ATS. NIA had presented a charge sheet against these four accused. After hearing this, the special NIA court framed charges against these four accused, but today the court has also acquitted these four accused.
