S. Jaishankar’s Caribbean visit begins, Jamaica Minister Johnson gives grand welcome
Kingston. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar reached Jamaica’s capital Kingston on his first official visit, where he was warmly welcomed. During this, he expressed his gratitude towards Jamaica’s Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith. Dr. Jaishankar said on social media platform X that he was overwhelmed by the welcome he received on his first visit to Jamaica.
Over the next two days he will interact with Jamaica’s top leadership, business community and people of Indian origin. On his arrival in Kingston, he was especially welcomed by people of Indian origin and children. It is noteworthy that this is a two-day visit of the External Affairs Minister, during which the External Affairs Minister will meet senior Jamaican leaders, business representatives and the Indian community.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit is part of a broader Caribbean tour. Apart from Jamaica, Dr. Jaishankar is also on an official visit to Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. This tour will continue till May 10. During this, the Foreign Minister will meet the foreign ministers of the three countries. All aspects of bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest will be discussed in these meetings.
