No trace found of young man who jumped into Kudri Barrage even after 20 hours, rescue continues

Janjgir-Champa. There was a stir in the area due to the news of a youth jumping into Hasdev river from Kudri Barrage in Champa area. The incident is being reported to have taken place on Tuesday, May 5 at around 5 pm.

According to the information received from the police, an auto driver coming from Champa reached the barrage office and told that a young man first threw his mobile phone over the barrage and then jumped into the river.

After giving the information, the auto driver went from there towards Madwa. As soon as the information was received, the watchman posted at the barrage reached the spot and searched around for about 15 to 20 minutes, but no concrete clue was found. After this the police was immediately informed.

As soon as the information was received, Champa police station and a team of divers reached the spot and started an intensive search operation in Hasdev river near Kudri Barrage. More than 20 hours have passed since the incident, but till now no trace of the youth has been found. Police and divers are continuously searching the river.

It is being told that the water level in the first part of the barrage is high, due to which there is a possibility of drowning of the youth. For this reason the rescue operation remains challenging and the team has to work hard.

According to primary information, the missing youth is said to be a resident of Shankar Nagar in Champa. The identity of the youth has been revealed as Shivam Sahu.

It has also come to light during police interrogation that the young man had called his friend and said that he was going to jump into the river due to his bad results. Since then his mobile phone has been switched off.

A missing person’s report has been registered in Champa police station regarding the incident. At present the police is refraining from saying anything officially in this matter, because it is not clear from which part of the barrage the young man jumped.

At present, the team of police, divers and local administration are continuously conducting search operations in the barrage and surrounding areas. There is an atmosphere of concern in the entire area regarding this incident.
