New Delhi. The Indian Golf Union (IGU) will send a six-member Indian golf team to participate in the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The men’s and women’s golf events will be held from September 30 to October 3 at the Kasugai Country Club East Course.
Yuvraj Sandhu, currently ranked 451 in the world rankings, will lead the Indian men’s team, which also includes Veer Ahlawat (world ranking 558) and Saptak Talwar (world ranking 576).
World number 135 Aditi Ashok will captain the Indian women’s team. The team also includes Diksha Dagar (world ranking 221) and Pranavi Urs (world ranking 270). Indian Golf Association President Brijinder Singh expressed confidence about the excellent performance of the Indian team in Japan. He said in the statement that we have a team of extremely talented and capable players, which includes players like Yuvraj Sandhu, who won seven titles on the PGTI circuit last year.
There are also players like Aditi Ashok and Deeksha Dagar, who have won many titles in the Ladies European Tour (LET). He said that the team has been selected entirely on the basis of world ranking. I have full confidence that the Indian team will be successful in making it to the medal table this time.

The Indian quartet of Laxman Singh, Rishi Narayan, Amit Luthra and Rajeev Mohta won the team gold medal in the 1982 Asian Games. Laxman Singh had also won the gold medal in the individual event.
Shiv Kapoor won the individual gold medal in the 2002 Busan Asian Games. The Indian team of Anirban Lahiri, Gaganjit Bhullar and Joseph Chakola won the silver medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
