Maratha Kranti Morcha complains to the Chief Minister on the use of the word ‘Chhota Maratha’ in the film ‘The Maharashtra File’
New Delhi . The film ‘The Maharashtra File’, based on social and administrative issues in Maharashtra, is embroiled in a new controversy after its release. Maratha Kranti Morcha has expressed strong objection to the alleged mention of Maratha community as ‘Chhota Maratha’ in the film. In this regard, the Morcha has filed a complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification (Censor Board) and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding immediate removal of the objectionable part.
Officials of Maratha Kranti Morcha say that Maratha society is an integral part of the social, historical and cultural life of Maharashtra. Referring to such a society in inferior terms hurts the sentiments and reputation.
According to the Morcha, the word ‘Chhota Maratha’ creates big differences in the society. This film of producer-director Sanjeev Kumar Rathod has been screened in many theaters in the state after completing the necessary censor process. After the release, while some viewers appreciated it, Morcha official Abhay Patil has written a letter to the Chief Minister and the Censor Board raising questions as to on what basis the references hurting the sentiments of the society were approved.
Morcha officials have warned that if the administration and the Censor Board do not take proper cognizance of this matter, then intense agitation will be conducted across the state against the theaters showing the film. The film’s producer-director Sanjeev Kumar Rathod could not be contacted regarding this controversy. On the other hand, Sanjeev Kumar has also been warned by All India Banjara Samaj.
