MCD’s big announcement: 9,345 sanitation workers will become permanent in one year
New Delhi. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has accelerated the process of regularization by taking a big and important decision in the interest of sanitation workers. In a special function organized at the Civic Center on Thursday, Union Minister of State and BJP Delhi State President Harsh Malhotra handed over permanent appointment letters to 41 sanitation workers. Along with this, the seniority list of 5,750 daily wage sanitation workers was also released, which will form the basis of the regularization process in future.
During the program, appointment letters were also provided to the dependents of 109 deceased sanitation workers on compassionate grounds. This step is being considered as a big effort by the corporation towards ensuring social and economic security of the sanitation workers.
Target to regularize 9,345 employees in a year
Addressing the function, Harsh Malhotra made a big announcement that Delhi Municipal Corporation will regularize about 9,345 sanitation workers in a phased manner within the next one year. He said that the aim of the BJP leadership is that no employee should remain temporary in the corporation.
He said that the role of sanitation workers is most important in keeping Delhi clean and healthy. These employees, who work in difficult conditions every day, are the lifeline of the capital and protecting their interests is the priority of the corporation and the BJP leadership.
Regularization will provide social security cover
Harsh Malhotra said that after regularization, the employees will not only get job stability, but will also be assured the right to social security, health facilities, service related benefits and a dignified life. He said that for the employees who have been working temporarily for years, this decision will prove to secure their future.
He also informed that from April 2025 till now, 791 dependents of deceased employees have been appointed as daily wage sanitation workers on compassionate grounds, which has provided financial support to the affected families.
BJP leadership had raised the fight for salaries earlier also
In his address, Malhotra said that the BJP leadership has always struggled on the issue of the rights of sanitation workers and timely payment of salaries. He said that similar decisions will continue to be taken in future to ensure the respect and rights of the employees.
Symbol of respect for sanitation workers: Mayor
Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Parvesh Wahi said that this is not just an administrative process, but a recognition of the hard work, dedication and service of the Karmayogi sanitation workers who work every day to keep Delhi clean.
He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the BJP government will make more and more temporary employees permanent in a phased manner.

Dames Committee Chairman Sandeep Kapoor said that sanitation workers, working in adverse conditions, provide a clean environment to the people of Delhi and protect public health. He said that the objective of the corporation is to provide respect, security and stable employment to the employees.
Deputy Mayor Dr. Monica Pant, Standing Committee Chairman Satya Sharma, Deputy Chairman Sundar Singh, Dames Committee Deputy Chairman Dharamveer Singh, Corporation Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar and a large number of employees and officers were present in the program.
