Mbappe will create history, will play his 100th international match for France against Iraq

Philadelphia. France captain Kylian Mbappe will play the 100th match of his international career in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group-I match against Iraq on Monday.

In the press conference held in Philadelphia before the match, he said that this achievement is very special for him.

Mbappe said playing for your country is always a matter of pride and completing 100 international caps on a stage like the World Cup makes it even more memorable. He said that the figure of 100 is historic and reaching this feat in the World Cup will be a special moment for him.

27-year-old Mbappe will become the 10th player to play 100 international matches for France. However, he is still behind former captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ record of 145 matches.

Recently, Mbappe has become France’s highest goalscorer by scoring two goals against Senegal. He now has 58 international goals to his name and has left behind the record of Olivier Giroud.

Mbappe said that the team’s success is more important to him than individual achievements. He said that victory against Iraq will take the team closer to the next stage and that is the biggest priority.

Regarding the World Cup, he said that he wants to be remembered in history for his country and a platform like the World Cup is the biggest opportunity for any player to show his potential.

On discussing the record of most goals in the World Cup, Mbappe said that he will try to score goals continuously, but his main goal is to take France as far as possible.

Regarding the World Cup experience in America, he said that he likes the atmosphere here and he is enjoying the opportunity. At the same time, on the question of playing the World Cup till the age of 40, he said in a light tone that he does not see himself in that situation.
