Health of eight women deteriorated due to cesarean operation, operation theater sealed, investigation started

Jodhpur. After Kota and Bikaner, now the medical department is on alert mode after the health of eight women suddenly deteriorated due to cesarean operation in District Hospital Pawta of Jodhpur city.

After these operations, which took place on June 20, six women were found to have serious problems like septicemia (blood infection) and two women were suffering from kidney failure. After the entire incident, the operation theater of the hospital has been sealed and a high-level investigation has been started into the matter.

Let us tell you that this incident came to light on June 20, the same day Medical Minister Gajendra Singh was inaugurating health facilities in Khinvsar Jodhpur. But the medical college administration initially kept this thing hidden.

Here, after the disclosure of the incident, today District Collector and District Magistrate Alok Ranjan held a review meeting with senior officials of the Health Department and also inspected the hospital.

District Collector Alok Ranjan conducted a detailed review of the medical arrangements in the hospital, the facilities being provided to the patients and recent developments related to the health of pregnant women.

During this, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ashish Kumar Mishra was also present. The District Collector directed that there should not be any laxity in the treatment and safety of patients and to ensure all necessary arrangements on top priority.

In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion with Principal and Controller of Dr. SN Medical College, Dr. BS Jodha, Superintendent of MDM Hospital, Dr. Vikas Rajpurohit, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Surendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief Medical Officer of Pawta District Hospital, Dr. Kulbir Chopra and other senior medical officers.

After the review meeting, District Collector Alok Ranjan along with District Council Chief Executive Officer Ashish Kumar Mishra reached Paota District Hospital and inspected the medical arrangements and received detailed information from the concerned officials regarding the incident of health of some pregnant women being affected after cesarean operation on June 20.

The Chief Medical Officer said that two pregnant women in critical condition, Sonu and Lalita, were immediately taken to Dr. S.N. for better treatment. She was referred to the ICU of the Medical College, from there Lalita has been referred to AIIMS Jodhpur.

Whereas the health condition of the remaining six pregnant women, Tasleem, Payal, Santosh, Priyanka, Gattu Kanwar and Nandu Kanwar admitted in Pavata District Hospital, is normal and all their vital parameters have been found satisfactory.

Hospital PMO Dr. Kulbir Singh said that until the investigation report comes, it has been decided to keep the operation theater of Pavata Hospital completely closed, so that there is no danger to other patients.

During this time, patients who need cesarean or other operations are being referred safely to other nearby government hospitals through the hospital’s ambulance.

Dr. BS Jodha, Principal of Dr. SN Medical College, said that caesarean patients are often physically weak due to anemic (lack of blood) or other diseases.

During extremely hot weather, bacteria grow rapidly, which can be the cause of this infection. He said that chemical samples of all the items of Operation Theater (OT), spirit and glucose have been taken.

As a precautionary measure, the OT of Pavata Hospital has been closed for three-four days. During this period, patients requiring cesarean will be shifted to MDM Hospital.
