Gurdaspur: Due to land dispute, a person killed his family members and committed suicide.

Chandigarh. Due to a land dispute in Punjab’s border district Gurdaspur, a person shot dead three of his family members and then committed suicide by shooting himself.

The incident took place late Tuesday night in Mundi Karal village of Batala. The police have taken possession of the four dead bodies and have started further action. The deceased include the accused’s aunt, cousin and a friend.

According to the information, Manjot Singh, resident of Mundi Karal village under Sekhwan police station of Batala, was having a dispute with his own family regarding land.

Late on Tuesday night the dispute escalated so much that Manjot became angry. He picked up the gun kept in the house. Manjot first opened fire on his real aunt Harjeet Kaur, who was working in the room, killing her on the spot.

After this he also shot his innocent 12 year old cousin Hari Amritpal Singh. The bodies of both of them were found lying in the courtyard and room of the house.

Hearing the sound of bullets and screams, Manjot’s friend Pargat Singh reached the spot. Pargat Singh was a soldier of the Indian Army.

When he tried to stop Manjot, Manjot chased his army friend out of the house and shot him. The police found his body lying in the bushes outside the house.

After committing three murders, accused Manjot Singh went to the kitchen of his house and committed suicide by shooting himself there. He had a pistol in his hand.

As soon as information about the triple murder was received, Batala SP City Sukhinder Singh and in-charge of Sekhwan police station reached the spot with heavy police force. FSL teams have taken samples from the spot.

The police have taken possession of all four bodies and kept them in the dead house of Civil Hospital Batala. The bodies will be handed over to their families after postmortem on Wednesday. There is a situation of tension in the village after four deaths. Due to which police force has been deployed.
