Big relief for industrial and commercial LPG customers
Commercial LPG: The Central Government has announced big relief for industrial and commercial LPG customers. The government has removed all sector-wise restrictions on the supply of non-domestic packed LPG. LPG supply has been restored to the level before the West Asia crisis. Apart from this, the central government has also relaxed the supply of bulk LPG which was stopped at the beginning of the crisis. This has been restored to 50 percent of the pre-crisis consumption level, which will provide considerable relief to commercial and industrial customers.
Government took decision after improvement in LPG supply situation
According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, this restoration has been done after the recent improvement in the LPG supply situation. During the West Asia crisis, the Central Government had issued orders under the Essential Commodities Act to increase domestic LPG production. It was said that C3-C4 streams would be used only for LPG production and they should be diverted from petrochemical and other downstream uses and used for LPG production.
Situation improved regarding domestic LPG production
Let us inform that in view of the improvement in domestic LPG production and anticipated availability of imported LPG cargo, the Central Government has also decided to reduce the diversion of C3/C4 stream for LPG pool. The increased allocation of C3-C4 stream for non-LPG use will be implemented in such a way that there is no impact on domestic LPG availability and the total domestic LPG production is not less than 40 TMT per day.
Industry and manufacturing units will benefit
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas believes that the situation regarding availability of LPG in the international market has improved in the last few weeks and the supply of import cargo is also as expected. In view of this, the Central Government has decided to remove those restrictions, which were temporarily imposed to ensure supply, in a phased manner. With this, industries, manufacturing units, hotels-restaurants and other commercial consumers will be able to get better fuel.
