Demand for CBI investigation into Ram temple offering embezzlement case rejected

Lucknow. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday rejected a PIL demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the alleged embezzlement case of offerings at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

AAG Vinod Shahi and CSC Shailendra Singh, appearing on behalf of the state government, said that such a petition is already pending in the Supreme Court, hence there is no justification here. After the hearing, Justice Rajan Rai and Justice Manjeev Shukla rejected the petition. This petition was filed by advocate Mohit Ashok. It was alleged in the petition that there were irregularities in the amount of donation boxes of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The petition demanded a CBI investigation to investigate the matter impartially and an audit of the temple offerings by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). It is noteworthy that the state government has already constituted a three-member SIT (Special Investigation Team) to investigate the matter.
