Delhi government on alert to deal with monsoon, 200 teams deployed to prevent waterlogging
- If water fills in any underpass despite running the pump, immediately inform the control room.
New Delhi. Delhi government has started preparations on a large scale to deal with the problem of waterlogging during monsoon. 200 teams have been deployed to monitor water logging places in the city and provide immediate solutions.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has instructed engineers and employees to keep a constant eye on waterlogged areas. Especially if the water level in the underpass rises by more than eight inches, then keeping safety in mind, traffic will be immediately diverted to other routes.
Nodal officers have been appointed for all the major places facing waterlogging problem. 200 maintenance teams will be deployed in their respective areas to monitor water drainage, cleaning of drains and other important works. These teams have been instructed to remain alert 24 hours.
The administration has also made arrangements that if water continues to rise in any underpass despite running the pump, the control room will immediately inform the traffic police. After this, the movement of vehicles will be stopped there and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will be informed and advised to change the routes of the buses. To save people from trouble during monsoon, the Delhi government has stressed on quick action and better coordination in waterlogged areas.
