Cardamom is very effective in providing relief from stomach burning and gas.

Cardamom: Heartburn and gas in the morning have become a very common problem in today’s time. Poor eating habits, sitting for long periods and stress are its main reasons. To get relief from this problem, people often resort to medicines, but perhaps you do not know that there are some spices in our kitchen which can easily relieve gas and stomach burning. The name of the spice we are talking about is cardamom. Green cardamom is not only used to enhance taste and aroma, but in Ayurveda it is considered a surefire medicine for many stomach problems. In such a situation, here we will try to know how cardamom is effective in getting rid of stomach related problems.

Why is cardamom beneficial for the stomach?

Cardamom has a cooling effect, which helps in calming the acid produced in the stomach. The essential oils present in it provide relief to the digestive system, thereby reducing stomach cramps. Apart from this, cardamom activates digestive enzymes, due to which food gets digested quickly and there is no problem of gas and bloating.

4 best ways to use cardamom

1. Chew after eating
This is the easiest and immediately effective method. After eating heavy or spicy food, put 1 to 2 green cardamoms in your mouth and chew them slowly. When its juice enters your stomach, you will get immediate relief from the burning sensation in the chest and stomach caused by acidity. It also works as a mouth freshener.

2. Lukewarm cardamom water
Cardamom water is very beneficial to get rid of gas and heaviness. For this, add 2 to 3 crushed cardamoms in a glass of water and boil it well. When the water remains half, filter it. When this water is lukewarm, sip it like tea. Consuming it in the morning on an empty stomach keeps the digestive system healthy throughout the day.

3. Mixture of cardamom and fennel
Both fennel and cardamom have cooling nature, hence their combination has a good effect on gas and acidity. You can mix roasted fennel and cardamom seeds and keep them in a container. Consuming half a spoon of this mixture after meals relieves the problem of indigestion.

4. Cardamom Herbal Tea
If you get gas due to drinking tea with milk, then drink herbal cardamom tea instead. For this, boil cardamom, a little ginger and mint leaves in water and drink it like black tea. This will cool the stomach and help in expelling the gas immediately. Consume cardamom only in limited quantities. Avoid consuming more than 2 to 3 cardamoms a day, as too much of anything can be harmful. If you are suffering from chronic acidity or stomach ulcer for a long time, then along with home remedies, definitely consult a doctor.
