Threat of bomb blasts before PM Modi’s visit to Punjab, alert in Chandigarh-Jalandhar

Chandigarh. Security agencies have come on alert mode before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chandigarh and Punjab. Threatening e-mails have once again been sent to many schools in Chandigarh and Mohali. In this, a threat has been given to carry out bomb blasts at different places in Chandigarh and Jalandhar on 17th July.
Prime Minister Modi will visit Punjab on July 17 and is scheduled to inaugurate Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station. In the first threatening e-mail, it has been said that apart from the schools of Chandigarh and Mohali, Mohali Mayor’s office will be targeted. Along with this, threats have been made to carry out IED blasts at Jalandhar and Chandigarh railway stations. In the e-mail, Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has also been threatened with death. Also, the people of Punjab have been warned not to attend the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After receiving the threat, police and security agencies have taken the matter seriously and started investigation. Vigilance has been increased regarding security arrangements of schools and other sensitive places. In recent times, schools in Chandigarh and Mohali have received similar threatening e-mails several times. Security agencies are already on alert after receiving continuous threats.
