Shivraj Singh on Bengal tour on 13-14 July, will communicate directly with Lakhpati Didis

  • There will be dialogue with jute farmers in Bengal

New Delhi. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be on a visit to West Bengal on 13‑14 July. During this, Shivraj Singh will hold an important meeting on agriculture and rural development with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and will directly communicate with the farmers of the jute sector and women associated with self-help groups.

Shivraj Singh will reach Kolkata from Delhi on the evening of 13th July and will go straight to the Chief Minister’s residence. In this meeting to be held with dinner, the central and state leadership will sit together on issues like farming, farmers’ schemes, rural roads, housing and employment.
On the second day on 14th July, a high level meeting will be held in the new Secretariat building, Kolkata.

Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and officials of related departments and senior officials of the Center will also participate in this meeting with Shivraj. On behalf of the Centre, the team of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Rural Development and ICAR will discuss in detail the further roadmap of PM-Kisan, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Dhan Dhanya Yojana, MSP, Vikas Bharat-Ji Ram Ji, Rural Roads and Housing and funds to be given to Panchayats.

Shivraj Singh will reach ICAR-CRIJAF located at Barrackpur in the afternoon. Farmers from the jute sector and women from self-help groups will gather here. Agriculture Minister Chauhan will give information about improved varieties of jute, modern rating, water conservation and easy techniques of processing‑marketing. Women’s groups will also be taught ways to set up small enterprises through jute-based products and value addition so that both income and employment increase in the villages.
