Hormuz blazes due to US-Iran attacks, Indian citizen dies

Tehran/Washington. The US has launched strong attacks on Iran’s port cities and other places for the third consecutive night. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that on the orders of President Donald Trump, the army simultaneously targeted several cities in Iran. In response to the American attack, Iran attacked two tankers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) passing through the Strait of Hormuz with missiles. The crew member, an Indian citizen, died in this attack. The UAE Defense Ministry has confirmed the death of an Indian citizen in an attack by Iranian missiles.

Centcom said the latest attack on Iran, ordered by President Donald Trump, hit the port city of Bandar Abbas, Kish, Qeshm and Abu Musa islands, reports CNN and Al Jazeera. Iran has confirmed this. The UAE Defense Ministry said Iranian missiles attacked two of its tankers in Oman’s territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz. One crew member died in the attack. The casualty crew member is an Indian citizen. The ministry said eight other people were injured in the Iranian attack. These include six Indian citizens and two Ukrainian citizens. The condition of four of the injured is said to be serious. The UAE Defense Ministry said it had the right to retaliate.

CENTCOM has announced that it will resume the naval blockade of ships visiting Iranian ports from 4 pm (Eastern Time) on Tuesday. After this news, oil prices across the world increased by more than nine percent. Regional tension has increased due to the latest military confrontation between America and Iran. Attacks have resumed between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels. From this it seems that the informal ceasefire has ended. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile, while the Houthis said Saudi air strikes targeted Sanaa international airport.

Flight tracking data showed at least a dozen US military aircraft circling over the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and Saudi Arabia near the UAE coast on Tuesday morning. At the same time, CENTCOM announced another wave of attacks on Iran for the third consecutive night. Aircraft in the air as of 8:00 pm Eastern time (3:30 am Iran time) included nine KC-135Rs and two KC-46A refueling tankers. Flight tracking data also showed several intelligence and surveillance aircraft. These included an E3-B Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System plane and the US Navy’s Poseidon P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft.

The E3-B is capable of conducting aerial surveillance of a 120,000 square mile battlefield. It can hit about 600 targets at a time. Refueling aircraft are vital to keeping fighter jets and other attack aircraft in the air during long-duration operations, as they allow aircraft to refuel without having to land. Meanwhile, President Trump said in an interview with conservative radio, “We are going to attack them strongly tonight and will attack them strongly tomorrow also.” He said that Iran has not followed the deal. He said that ultimately the US will control the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said that the countries which America is helping in the conflict with Iran should pay the expenses. He named several allies in the region, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Explosions were also heard in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas as well as on the islands of Kish, Qeshm and Abu Musa, Iranian media reported on Tuesday morning (local time). The Iranian military said the US carried out drone attacks.
