President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate ‘Saushrutam 2026’, there will be international brainstorming on modern surgery.

New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the three-day international seminar ‘Saushrutam 2026’ organized at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi on Wednesday.

The seminar, organized under the Ministry of AYUSH, will run from July 15 to 17, while a pre-workshop will be held on July 14.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the program is being organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Acharya Sushruta, considered the father of surgery. In the seminar, experts from India and abroad will discuss on the integration of Ayurveda and modern surgical science.

A national study on “Evaluation of Professional Careers of Ayurveda Women Graduates” prepared by NCISM will be released during the event.

Also inaugurated will be a state-of-the-art 3-Tesla high-field MRI system, installed at a cost of Rs 14.5 crore, with AI-enabled workflow, biometrics and advanced imaging facilities.

The three-day seminar will include keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops and scientific paper presentations. There will be special sessions on topics such as rectal pathology, reconstructive surgery, integrative oncology, medico-legal issues and intellectual property in surgery. Apart from this, surgical principles of Acharya Sushruta like wound management, Agnikarma, Ksharasutra and Marma Chikitsa will also be discussed.

Eminent surgeons, academicians and researchers from Thailand, Israel, Austria, United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Greece and India will participate in this international event.

Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu, MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri and Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha will also be present in the inauguration ceremony.
