What is special in ‘Vikram-1’?
Vikram-1 rocket will place many technical instruments in a special orbit 450 kilometers above the earth.
Rocket Vikram is capable of carrying a weight of up to 350 kg.
Vikram-1 is the first orbital rocket made entirely of lightweight and strong carbon-composite structure. Carbon fiber is five times lighter than steel.
It has engines made by the company, which also include 3D printed engines.
It also has a micro-art piece, a small rocket. Its art piece is made of 18 carat gold.
Why was the rocket named ‘Vikram-1’?
This rocket has been named ‘Vikram-1’ in honor of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. It was Dr. Sarabhai who had laid the strong foundation of the country’s space sector. He was a visionary scientist. Skyroot names all its rockets after this series in his honor. This is the launch of India’s first private orbital rocket, hence it has been named Vikram-1. PM Modi’s handwritten postcard has also gone to space in Vikram-1 rocket, this also makes ‘Mission Arrival’ historic.
