Kathmandu: The land of Nepal was once again shaken by strong earthquake. The intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 5 on the Richter scale. As soon as the earthquake occurred, there was panic among the people. People came out of their houses in the open. At present there is no news of any damage due to the earthquake.
Earthquake tremors were felt at 4.30 pm
A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck East Rukum district of Nepal’s Lumbini province on Sunday, officials said. The officers provided this information. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NMRC), the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 4.30 pm local time, was in the Kol area of East Rukum. This area is located about 400 kilometers west of Kathmandu.
Tremors also felt in Rolpa, Baglung and Myagdi
The tremors of this earthquake were also felt in the neighboring districts of Rolpa, Baglung and Myagdi. Lok Vijay Adhikari, senior seismologist of the Centre, said that till now no damage has been reported due to the earthquake. Earthquakes occur several times every year in Nepal and it is in the world’s most active seismic zones – 4 and 5, due to which it is considered highly sensitive to earthquakes.
Earthquake also occurred on 25th June
Earlier last month, on June 25, earthquake tremors were also felt in Jumla in western Nepal. Tremors were also felt in neighboring districts of Kalikot and Mugu in Karnali province. According to the Nepal Earthquake Research and Monitoring Center (NERMC), a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded at 5.36 am, with its epicenter at Tamti in Jumla district, about 700 km west of Kathmandu. However, the earthquake did not cause any damage. Earlier on June 21, an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude had hit Srinagar in Humla district of the Western Province.
