Demonstration in Madhya Pradesh on the arrest of Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, Congress MLAs sitting on strike in the Assembly

Bhopal . Congress’s protest in Madhya Pradesh continued till late night on Tuesday in protest against the arrest of Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Amidst the protests across the state, Congress MLAs are sitting on strike till late night outside the Chief Minister’s chamber in the Assembly. State Congress President Jitu Patwari is also joining him in the protest.

On Tuesday, Jitu Patwari was sitting on a dharna in front of Lok Bhavan, but the police removed him and other Congress workers from there and made them sit in a vehicle. After some time, he directly reached the Assembly and supported the protesting MLAs.

In fact, Congress leaders had demonstrated near the Prime Minister’s residence demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. After this, many opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Akhilesh Yadav were detained by the police. Madhya Pradesh Congress also protested against this in the state.

Protest continues outside the Chief Minister’s chamber in the Assembly

After the assembly proceedings on Tuesday evening, Congress MLAs under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar sat on a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s chamber. Some MLAs even lay down on the floor to protest. Earlier, Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar tried to end the protest but the MLAs did not agree. Later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya also arrived for talks. During this, he had a heated argument with Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and Congress MLAs raised slogans.

Apart from Bhopal, Congress and NSUI workers staged protests, rallies and sloganeering in many districts including Indore, Jabalpur, Katni, Khandwa, Harda, Shajapur, Tikamgarh, Ratlam, Dabra and Khargone. At some places there were traffic jams and scuffles with the police. By late night the protests ended in most of the districts, while the strike by Congress MLAs continues in the Assembly.
