New Delhi: The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine seems to be intensifying once again. Early on Thursday, Russia launched a major attack on Ukraine’s capital Kiev with ballistic missiles. During the attack, several loud explosions were heard in the capital, while Ukraine’s air defense system continued to intercept the missiles. In view of the situation, the administration has appealed to the people to stay in safe bunkers.
Several missiles were fired at Kyiv
According to Ukrainian officials, Russia fired several ballistic missiles towards the capital. Initial information has revealed that at least eight missiles are headed towards Kiev.
The city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said a warehouse on the western outskirts was hit, while debris from some of the intercepted missiles fell on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River. The Air Force has warned that there may be further missile attacks, so citizens have been asked to remain alert and follow security instructions.
Concern increased due to drone attacks
Along with ballistic missiles, Russia also targeted many areas through Shahed drones. Several explosions were reported following drone attacks in the north-eastern city of Kharkiv. Apart from this, air raid alert was also issued in Vinnytsia and other areas, due to which security arrangements have been tightened in the entire country.
The attack took place amidst political turmoil
This attack has happened at a time when the political atmosphere in Ukraine is heated after the removal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov from the post. The situation has become more tense due to a new attack on the capital by Russia shortly after the change in the Defense Ministry.
continuously increasing attacks
This is considered to be Russia’s seventh major attack on Kiev in the month of July. Even before this, many people have lost their lives in missile and drone attacks on the capital and a large number of civilians have been injured. Schools, warehouses and other civilian facilities have also been damaged.
The problems of the people of Kiev have increased due to these continuous attacks. Ukraine has clearly indicated that it will respond to these attacks. In such a situation, there is a possibility of further intensification of the conflict between the two countries, due to which tension remains constant in the entire region.
