- India-Romania agreed to double bilateral trade in three years
New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu returned to Delhi on Sunday after completing her tour of three countries in Europe. This information was shared on the official X handle of the President. His visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between these countries and India. The President started his visit from Moldova on 20 July. This was the first visit of an Indian head of state to Moldova.
President Murmu then visited North Macedonia on 21 and 22 July. The President also addressed the Parliament of North Macedonia and participated in the inaugural session of the India-North Macedonia Business Forum. In the last leg of the visit, President Murmu reached Romania on 23 July. This was the first visit by an Indian head of state to Romania in more than three decades. During this, India and Romania agreed to double bilateral trade in the next three years. Both countries also discussed strengthening cooperation in many important areas including defence.
Before leaving for home, the President also met members of the Indian community and Friends of India organization in Romania on Saturday. During this tour, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, MP Dinesh Sharma and MP Vijay Baghel also accompanied the President.
