Canara Bank’s net profit increased in the first quarter, results were better than last year
- Net interest income of the bank crossed Rs 10 thousand crore in April-June quarter
New Delhi. Public sector Canara Bank has announced the results for the first quarter (April-June) of the financial year 2026-27. The bank’s net profit increased by two percent to Rs 4,856 crore in the first quarter. This Bengaluru-based bank had earned a profit of Rs 4,752 crore in the April-June quarter of the last financial year 2025-26.
Canara Bank told the stock market on Monday that its total income increased to Rs 39,684 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, from Rs 38,063 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year 2025-26. The bank’s interest income also increased to Rs 32,957 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year, which was Rs 31,003 crore in the June quarter of the financial year 2025-26.
The bank said that the asset quality of Canara Bank has improved. Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) declined to 1.57 per cent of total advances at the end of the April-June quarter from 2.69 per cent in the same period last financial year. Similarly, in the first quarter, the bank’s net NPA i.e. bad loans came down to 0.36 percent, whereas it was 0.63 percent in the same quarter of the financial year 2025-26.
Canara Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Brajesh Kumar Singh said that the bank’s net interest income crossed Rs 10 thousand crore in the April-June quarter. An increase of 13 percent was recorded in this. Kumar said the bank’s net interest income increased to Rs 10,215 crore from Rs 9,009 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year 2025-26.
