Bharatpu. RPF constable Lokesh Kumar, who lost his life while on duty amidst rain, was given a tearful farewell at his native village Jirauli on Tuesday morning. As soon as Lokesh’s body wrapped in the tricolor reached the village, the atmosphere became sad. The family members started crying, while the eyes of the villagers also became moist. Before the last rites, RPF officers paid tribute to Lokesh by offering a floral wreath and provided a guard of honour. After this, he was cremated with state honours. The villagers bid him last farewell by raising slogans of ‘Lokesh Kumar Amar Rahe’.
Lokesh Kumar died after being hit by a train while on duty at Harda railway station on August 9. He was posted as RPF constable at Harda station for about three years. It was raining at the time of the incident and Lokesh was patrolling the platform. Meanwhile, his foot suddenly slipped on the wet platform and he fell on the railway track. Meanwhile, Lokmanya Tilak Gorakhpur Mumbai Super Fast Express train number 20301 was coming on the track. Before Lokesh could recover, he was hit by the train. The accident was so painful that both his legs were separated from his torso and he died on the spot.
As soon as information about the accident was received, GRP and RPF teams reached the spot. The police took the body into custody and took it to the hospital. The investigation into the case was started after inspecting the spot. The post-mortem of the body was conducted the next day. After this, Lokesh’s brother Chandrashekhar left for Bharatpur with the dead body.
Lokesh’s body reached his village Jirauli at around 4 am on Wednesday morning. As soon as the body was seen wrapped in the tricolor, there was an outcry in the family. The family members including wife Reena and children became unconscious. When Lokesh’s son Arpit was given the last darshan of his father, the atmosphere became very emotional. Before the last rites, RPF officers laid a wreath and saluted the mortal remains of Lokesh.
After this, the soldiers bid last farewell to their comrade by giving a guard of honour. The last rites were performed with state honours. During this, the villagers raised slogans of ‘Lokesh Kumar Amar Rahe’.
Lokesh is survived by his wife Reena, 8 year old daughter Yashika and 5 year old son Arpit. Lokesh lived in a rented room in Harda with his wife and two children. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the village due to the death of Lokesh, who was serving at Harda station for almost three years, while on duty.
