New Delhi. Now the engine of the fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will be made in India itself. For this, Reliance Industries Limited and Rolls-Royce have joined hands and announced a partnership.
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Rolls-Royce on Friday said they intend to jointly develop a fighter engine for the advanced medium combat aircraft programme.
It is an effort by India’s largest private sector company and Britain’s renowned aircraft engine manufacturer to develop indigenous fighter-jet propulsion capability in the country.
The two companies said in a joint statement that they will explore the possibility of building a dedicated aerospace gas turbine complex in India.
Under this partnership, Reliance Industries and Rolls-Royce will work on the possibility of building a dedicated aerospace gas turbine complex, which includes design, development, manufacturing, testing, production and lifetime support of fighter engines.
According to the statement, under this partnership, Reliance and Rolls-Royce will work on the possibility of building a dedicated aerospace gas turbine complex, which will be a center of excellence for power and propulsion technology in India.
This partnership will present a unique proposition for joint development of AMCA engines in India, bringing together world leading technology and industrial performance capabilities.
This is an important step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s defense ecosystem, which includes developing an indigenous engine to power the country’s fighter jet programme.
Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani said that the objective of this partnership is to create a domestic ecosystem related to advanced aero engine technology in India.
Rolls-Royce PLC CEO Tufan Erginbilgich said the collaboration will combine the company’s engineering heritage and engine capabilities with Reliance’s industrial presence in India.
