Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given a sharp reaction to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s statement on Indus Water Treaty. Omar Abdullah said that Pakistan has sucked our blood. We have always said that our entire blood has been sucked through the Indus Water Treaty, these are our rivers and we had the first right on them. Along with this, Omar Abdullah also said that the Indus Water Agreement should remain canceled in future also.

Questioning Pakistan’s claim, CM Omar Abdullah said that Pakistan claims to stand with Kashmiris, but when it comes to the water issue, its sympathy disappears. Where was that sympathy when it came to the right to use our rivers? Of the 6 rivers, India retained three rivers flowing in Punjab, while our three rivers were ceded to Pakistan. Since then we have been paying the price of the Indus Water Treaty. We have not been able to get drinking water from Chenab nor have we been able to build a barrage in Tulbul. So the statement about every drop of blood was true, indeed our blood has been squeezed out. The Indus Water Treaty has been voided and must remain void.
Reiterated the demand for full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir
Omar Abdullah reiterated his demand for full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and said he will continue his fight for it. The recent protests at Jantar Mantar were just the beginning, there will be many more. Earlier recently, Omar Abdullah had said that only PM Modi and Shah can take the decision to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.
Questions raised on lapse in security of Sukhbir Singh Badal
During an event held in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah criticized the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal and raised questions about his Z-Plus security. He said, “We strongly condemn this attack. Dr. Farooq Abdullah has already criticized it. Such attacks should not happen. He had been attacked earlier also, after which he was assured that his security would be given special attention. He has Z-plus security but what kind of Z-plus security is this? This is the second time he has been attacked. This time he was even injured and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.”
The first thing is that such attacks should not happen again because there is no place for such things in democracy. It is very dangerous to attack someone because of a grievance in a democracy: Omar Abdullah
Shahbaz Sharif calls Indus water agreement ‘red line’
In a post made by the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan on He declared that every drop of Pakistan’s water is our red line. There will be no compromise on the water issue. If India does not come on the right path, we will give it a direct reply.
