New Delhi. A house caught fire in Raghubir Nagar of Western district in Delhi early on Monday due to the battery explosion of an e-rickshaw. Two people were seriously burnt in the accident.
Both were taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased have been identified as Safed (17) and Mohammad Samid (38).
According to the fire department, the fire was reported at around 4:42 am in R-17A located at Masjid Gurudwara Road in Raghubir Nagar. As soon as the information was received, five fire brigade vehicles were sent. Fire officials began operations to control the fire.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that household items were kept on the first floor of the house. Meanwhile, there was a massive explosion in the battery of the e-rickshaw, after which the fire spread. The building has four floors apart from the ground floor.
When the fire broke out, both the youth present there got burnt due to it. Even before the fire brigade personnel arrived, both of them were taken out and taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, Raghubir Nagar. Where the doctors declared both of them dead.
Fire officials reported the end of the fire response around 5:25 p.m. According to officials, the fire was limited to household items.
The exact causes of the accident and the circumstances of the battery explosion are being investigated. Police and concerned agencies are collecting evidence from the spot and taking further action.
