Jaipur. Monsoon activities have now started weakening in Rajasthan. The weather took a turn in Alwar on Monday morning and drizzle continued in the city and surrounding areas since morning.
There was dense cloud cover in many areas including Tuleda village. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 12 districts of the state on Monday.
There is a possibility of further weakening of monsoon in the state from August 26-27. Due to this, the weather may remain dry in many parts of Western Rajasthan as well as Eastern Rajasthan.
Earlier, the spell of rain that started late Saturday evening in Bharatpur, Alwar, Dholpur and Karauli districts of eastern Rajasthan continued till Sunday afternoon. Laxmangarh in Alwar received maximum rainfall of 75 mm i.e. about 3 inches.
There was 57 mm rainfall in Kathumar of Alwar, 45 mm rainfall in Raini and 39 mm rainfall in Rajgarh. There was 46 mm rainfall in Baritha of Bharatpur, 33 mm in Nadbai and 25 mm in Rupwas. Sarmathura in Dholpur received 23 mm of rain.
A mud house collapsed due to rain in Baseri of Dholpur. However, there is no report of any major casualty due to rain. On Sunday, there was 6 mm rain each in Rajkheda and Sampau of Dholpur, 4 mm rain in Baseri and 16 mm rain in Basai Nawab area. Light rain also occurred in Kudgaon and Sapotra of Karauli.
Despite the weak monsoon in Rajasthan, the temperature patterns remain varied. The temperature in western Rajasthan is currently controlled due to the influence of south-westerly winds. The maximum temperature in western districts like Jaisalmer, Barmer and Jodhpur is staying below 35 degrees Celsius.
On the contrary, heat is being felt more in many districts of Eastern Rajasthan. Temperatures in Jaipur, Pilani, Sikar, Tonk, Jhunjhunu and Fatehpur were measured at 35 degrees Celsius or more.
On Sunday, the highest temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sriganganagar in the state, while the maximum temperature in Jaipur remained above 35 degrees.
According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Meteorological Center, Jaipur, currently most parts of the state are under the influence of south-westerly dry winds.
The weather is likely to remain mainly dry for the next one week in most parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of Western Rajasthan. The temperature may increase in the border areas during this period and the maximum temperature is likely to reach 39 degrees Celsius in some cities.
Weak monsoon conditions are also expected in most parts of Udaipur, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions of Eastern Rajasthan for the next one week.
However, some districts of Kota, Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions may receive light to moderate rain between August 25 and 27. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Alwar till August 28.
Monsoon activity has started decreasing in the state. In the next few days, light rain may provide relief in selected districts of Eastern Rajasthan, but after August 26-27, the extent of rain is likely to reduce and the weather is likely to remain dry in many areas.
