Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, citing a newspaper report, accused the Central Government of hatching a conspiracy to end reservation. He said that the Modi government is planning to end reservation through a secret door.
Kharge said on social media platform There are 2.40 lakh vacancies in Railways, 2.41 lakh in Defense Ministry and 1.10 lakh in Home Ministry. 5.1 lakh permanent jobs were lost in public sector undertakings (PSUs) and the share of contract employees increased from 19 per cent to 49 per cent.
The Congress President said that this is not just a question of employment but an issue of social justice. Keeping government posts vacant destroys the opportunity for reservation, selling PSUs destroys reserved jobs and converting permanent jobs into contract jobs also destroys reservation.
Kharge alleged that BJP does not need to change the Constitution, rather ending reservation jobs is enough. The government’s policy is to keep posts vacant, sell PSUs, increase contracts and snatch away their constitutional rights from SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories.
