Prime Minister Modi will address the summit of Jal Shakti Ministry today

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the concluding session of the two-day departmental summit of the Jal Shakti Ministry at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan here today. He will also address the gathering on this occasion. This information was given in the release of the Prime Minister’s Office. This is the first departmental summit focused on the vision of the Prime Minister.

According to a Prime Minister’s Office release, it aims to strengthen the spirit of ‘Team India’, deepen cooperative federalism and promote collective responsibility towards national priorities through better coordination between the Center and the states. Senior officials along with the political leadership of the Central and State Governments are participating in the conference.

On the first day of the conference, apart from discussing the major priorities related to the water sector, emphasis was laid on finding solutions to the challenges related to implementation by sharing the best practices of different states and preparing a time-bound action plan. Apart from this, discussions started on four key areas like timely implementation of water infrastructure projects, ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari – Catch the Rain’, sustainability of sources of drinking water systems and operation and maintenance of rural drinking water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0.

The objective of this discussion is to accelerate water infrastructure projects, increase public participation in water conservation, ensure long-term sustainability of drinking water sources and decide on concrete and time-bound steps to improve the reliability and accountability of drinking water services in rural areas.
