New Delhi. Various groups staged a protest outside the Sansad Marg police station on Friday demanding the arrest of the accused and the attack on Nishu Azad’s father Sanjay, who was involved in the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Congress, independent MP, Pappu Yadav, student leaders of left parties and Bhim Army workers participated in this dharna. Independent MP Pappu Yadav sat there with victim Nishu Azad and her supporters. During this, the protesters raised slogans against the Delhi Police and the Central Government.
The protesters allege that Nishu Azad’s father was fatally attacked two months ago, in which he suffered serious head injuries. At the time of the incident, Nishu Azad had appealed to Delhi Police for justice and arrest of the culprits. However, even after two months, the accused are roaming freely and admitting their crime. The protesters have demanded that the accused themselves have confessed to the attack, they should be immediately arrested and booked under the strictest sections, including attempt to murder.
Meanwhile, CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das also reached the protest site. Ranka told the media that Saurav and his entire team are continuously demanding the Delhi Police to immediately arrest the accused and impose sections of attempt to murder on them. He alleged that Delhi Police is working on the instigation of BJP leaders and Kapil Mishra and is protecting the accused. Ranka raised the question that when a huge police force could be deployed to stop a peaceful protest, why not even a tenth of that force was used to arrest the goons who openly confessed to the crime.
Independent MP Pappu Yadav, sitting on the dharna, made a scathing attack on the working style of Delhi Police and the government and asked whether our daughters and Dalits will be subjected to similar atrocities. This government is against women, minorities and Dalits. After all, why is the daughter of this country not being given justice? He said that this nexus of police, criminals and the ruling party is trying to destroy democracy and the Constitution, which will not be tolerated.
At the same time, Congress MP Naseer Hussain also raised questions on the intentions of the government and the police and supported the victim’s family. He said that Congress stands with every citizen to whom injustice has been done.
It is noteworthy that recently a video of Swatantra Bhardwaj allegedly attacking Sanjay Azad had surfaced. In this video, he had made some claims which were termed as a confession by Azad supporters on social media. He asked why the police released Swatantra and why murder charges were not imposed on him.
