The dispute that started on Friday over dumping cow dung in ancestral land turned into a bloody conflict in Fakira Dera located in Barehata village of Jaspura police station area in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that brother-in-law, brother-in-law and their family members attacked a woman and her family with an ax and sickle.
The woman seriously injured in the attack died during treatment in the district hospital, while her husband and son are injured. The police have taken the main accused into custody and are searching for other accused.
According to Fakira Dera resident Rajbahadur Nishad (50), the dispute started on Friday morning. His 11-year-old son Divyansh had gone to dump cow dung on the ancestral land located about a kilometer away from the house.
It is alleged that there Rajbahadur’s younger brother Rambahadur stopped him from dumping cow dung and abused him. After this Divyansh returned home.
Rajbahadur had gone to work on the farm with his wife Geeta (45) and elder son Anil Kumar (28). At around 1 pm, Divyansh and his sister Khushboo (14) were going towards the fields.
It is alleged that Ram Bahadur stopped both the children on the way and assaulted them in an inebriated state. Khushboo called and informed her father about the incident.
On receiving the information, Rajbahadur along with his wife Geeta and son Anil returned from the farm and reached Rambahadur’s house to reprimand him. It is alleged that there Ram Bahadur, his wife Radha, elder brother Shivlochan, his wife Sakhiya and son Raju started abusing and then attacked with sharp weapons.
Rajbahadur, his wife Geeta and son Anil were seriously injured in the attack. Police arrived on the information of villagers and took all three to Jaspura CHC, where after first aid they were referred to the district hospital. Late in the evening, doctors declared Geeta dead in the district hospital.
On the complaint of Rajbahadur Nishad, a case of murder has been registered against all the accused in Jaspura police station. Police have taken accused Ram Bahadur into custody, while efforts are being made to arrest other accused.
Jaspura Police Station Inspector Rishidev Singh said that on the basis of the complaint, an FIR for murder has been registered against the accused. The woman’s body is being sent for post-mortem and the matter is being investigated.
