Rahul demand in Gulzar Singh suicide case

New Delhi. Former national president of Congress and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has demanded the immediate resignation of Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema from the Bhagwant Mann government of the state regarding the suicide of farmer Gulzar Singh in Punjab and an independent and impartial investigation into the matter.

Rahul Gandhi alleged in X Post on Wednesday that Gulzar Singh, who comes from the Dalit community, had questioned the Finance Minister about the government’s alleged failure to stop the drug trade after his son became a victim of drug addiction. After this, pressure was put on Gulzar Singh to apologize and he was harassed and humiliated.

He said that after this incident Gulzar Singh consumed poison. Gulzar Singh was taken from one hospital to another and eventually died due to lack of treatment. He said that this is not the first such case in Punjab. Last week he also spoke to Mohanjit Singh, who was harassed for protesting against Chief Minister Mann.

Rahul said that the job of the government is to answer the questions of the public, not to crush those who ask questions. Demanding early justice to Gulzar’s family, he said the Chief Minister should ensure an independent and impartial investigation into the case and the Finance Minister’s name should be included in the FIR.
