On Saturday, candidates surrounded the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya regarding the issue of reservation for recruitment of 68,500 assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The candidates say that as per the decision taken in the last meeting, their case was told that the final decision would be taken through Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, but no action has been taken till now. That is why the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has been surrounded. The police force caught the gheraoed candidates and sent them to Eco Garden by buses.
The candidates said that as per the order of the Commission, considering the OBC category as a reserved category, they demanded to release the revised result on the basis of 60 marks out of 150 i.e. 40 percent and to give appointment to the eligible candidates.
Toofan Singh, who is leading the movement, said that during the meeting chaired by Education Minister Sandeep Singh on September 10, it was said by Additional Chief Secretary Partha Sarathi Sen that OBC (Other Backward Class) should have got five percent relaxation and should have been kept in the reserved category. However, without doing so, the advertisement was released and the recruitment process has been completed and appointments have also been made. Since almost seven years have passed since this recruitment process, now this matter requires a decision at a higher level.
In the meeting, it was made clear from the officials that in the present circumstances, it is necessary to take the decision at a higher level regarding compliance with the order of the State Backward Classes Commission, issuing the revised result considering the OBC category as a reserved category and giving appointment.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh had also talked about talking to the Chief Minister on this entire issue. It was also revealed in the meeting that the final positive decision on the matter can be taken only from the Chief Minister level. With this assurance, today the candidates surrounded the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
