ED will interrogate Krishnan Sharda in bribery case of Rs 5 lakh

Chandigarh. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will now interrogate alleged middleman Krishnau Sharda in the bribery case involving former Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. ED filed an application in the special PMLA court for permission in this regard. The court has directed Sharda to issue a production warrant for her physical appearance on September 18.

Sharda is currently in judicial custody in Model Jail, Burail, Chandigarh. The court has directed the jail superintendent to produce him in the court on the scheduled date. This case is related to the bribery case registered against former DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. According to the CBI, when Bhullar was posted as DIG of Ropar Range, complainant Akash Batta had alleged that in the FIR lodged against him at Sirhind police station, a bribe was allegedly demanded for favorable action and not taking any coercive action against his business. It is alleged that this amount was allegedly demanded through Krishna Sharda.

According to CBI records, Sharda was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in Chandigarh on October 16, 2025. The investigating agency alleges that this amount was an installment of the demanded bribe. In the case, action has been taken against both Bhullar and Sharda on corruption charges. In July 2026, the special CBI court had framed charges against Bhullar and Sharda in the corruption case. Both the accused have presented their legal position regarding the allegations before the court.

In April 2026, ED had raided several locations of Bhullar and people associated with him in Punjab and Chandigarh. The action was part of an investigation into a money laundering case related to alleged bribery. Now ED wants to further investigate the alleged financial transactions and other aspects related to the case by interrogating Sharda. As per the court order, Sharda will be produced on September 18.
