Mandsaur. A tractor-trolley loaded with laborers was hit by a speeding truck from behind at around 12:15 am on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday near Lakhma Khedi Fante in Daloda police station area of Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh. In the accident, a 6-year-old girl and a 45-year-old woman traveling in the trolley died on the spot.
Many workers have been injured in the accident. In these, both the legs of an 18-year-old girl were amputated from below, while three other seriously injured have been referred to Ratlam Medical College.
After the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. The police have sent the bodies of both the deceased for post-mortem and have established the case and have started searching for the truck and driver.
According to the injured labourers, they are residents of Rawati and surrounding villages of Ratlam district. All were working as laborers in railway work in Mandsaur. After finishing the work at around 11:30 pm on Saturday night, the workers left for Ujjain in a tractor-trolley.
Near Lakhma Khedi Fante, a truck coming from behind hit the trolley hard. Due to the collision, the trolley overturned and the workers sitting in it fell on the road. His belongings also got scattered on the road.
Additional Collector Ekta Jaiswal said that the information was received at around 12:30 in the night. After reaching the spot, it was found that the railway workers were going to Ujjain in a tractor-trolley. According to him, there were about 20 people in the trolley.
Kalpana’s father Vinod Bheel (18), resident of Ranisingh, was seriously injured in the accident. Both his legs were cut off from below. He has been referred to Ratlam Medical College. Apart from this, a 4 year old child and an 8 year old child have suffered fractures in their legs. Both were also sent to Ratlam Medical College.
Chanchal’s father Sanjay Bheel (18), admitted in the district hospital, suffered a fracture in his leg along with injuries on his head, face and other parts of the body. Neeru’s father Ter Singh Bheel (14) has a back fracture.
Shankar’s father Galiya Bhil (26), Savita’s husband Rahul Bhil (20) and Sonu’s husband Abbu Lal Bhil (28) are also undergoing treatment in the district hospital.
The other injured include Rahul (23), Surpal (15), Leela (26), Asha (5), Gopal (18), Manish (19), Pooja (10), Karan (7) and Pappudi (30). After first aid he was discharged from the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Basanti Pati Peru Bheel (45), resident of village Lasiya in Raoti police station area of Ratlam district, and a 6-year-old girl resident of village Motuka. The police have conducted post-mortem of both the bodies.
The bodies had suffered serious injuries in the accident. As soon as information about the accident was received, the police and administrative staff became active. Officials including Additional Collector Ekta Jaiswal, SDM, Tehsildar and Daloda police station in-charge reached the spot.
Additional Collector reached the district hospital at around 2 o’clock in the night and met the injured and inquired about their condition. He discussed with doctors regarding the treatment of seriously injured. The administration has said that necessary treatment will be provided to the injured.
Daloda police station in-charge Ravindra Pratap Dangi said that after the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Police are searching for the truck and driver. In the case of death of two people, a case has been registered and investigation has been started.
