New Delhi. The team of Special Staff of North East Delhi District arrested 2 criminals during a late night encounter in Osmanpur Yamuna Khadar. In this encounter, both the accused were shot in their legs, due to which they were admitted to the hospital.
Delhi Police said that the Special Staff team of North East Delhi had received information about both the accused. After this, on the basis of secret information, the police team laid a trap in Osmanpur Yamuna Khadar under New Osmanpur police station area. When these two were seen coming, they were signaled to stop. However, the accused opened fire on the police while trying to escape.
After this the police also retaliated and opened fire. In this, both the accused were shot in the legs. After this, the police took both the criminals into their custody and they were admitted to the hospital in injured condition.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Wasim and Kaif. Police said that both the criminals had demanded extortion from a businessman in Bhajanpura area on October 2. Also, they had fired in the air. After this, a case was registered against both the criminals. Both these accused, Lawrence Bishnoi and Rasid Kewal, belong to the gang.
Earlier, the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Friday arrested an active member of the ‘Takkar gang’ in an attempt to murder case. The arrested person was already declared a proclaimed offender. The accused was identified as Ghulam Khawaja alias Aale, 30, resident of Dabri, Delhi. During interrogation, Khawaja revealed his links with Takkar gang and his activities in Dwarka, Dabri, Uttam Nagar and surrounding areas of Haryana.
