Before the final farewell of a soldier, four including his son died in an accident.

Deoria. There was mourning in Gahila Dudhaila village on Monday after the death of four people returning to Deoria with the dead body of an army soldier in a tragic road accident in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The soldier’s only son Gaurav Singh (18), elder brother Ramsamuj (55), cousin Rajan Singh (35) and ambulance driver Jaspal Singh died in the accident.

When the mortal remains reached the village in two ambulances at around 6:30 am on Monday morning, the atmosphere became sad due to the screams of the family members. Thousands of villagers gathered to pay their last respects.

Subedar Major Satyawan Singh, resident of Gahila Dudhaila village, died three days after kidney transplant in the Army Command Hospital, Chandigarh.

After this, his mortal remains were being brought from Panchkula to Deoria in an ambulance. Satyavan Singh’s family members were also in the ambulance.

At around 8:15 am on Sunday morning, the ambulance met with an accident near Haliapur on Purvanchal Expressway near Ayodhya border in Sultanpur district.

The collision was so severe that the people traveling in the ambulance were seriously injured. Police reached the spot after receiving information and took everyone to the hospital, where doctors declared Gaurav Singh, Ramsamuj, Rajan Singh and driver Jaspal dead.

After the accident, the dead body of Satyawan Singh was kept in Haliyapur police station, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem. After the post-mortem process was completed late in the evening, the bodies were sent to Deoria.

When the body reached the village on Monday morning, there was mourning. Sarojini Devi, wife of army soldier Satyawan Singh, started crying bitterly after seeing her husband’s dead body.

When the dead body of Satyavan Singh and his only son and elder brother also reached there, a mountain of sorrow fell on the family. Deceased Rajan Singh was also currently a councillor.

His body was taken to his home in Bhartoli ward of Rudrapur, where the atmosphere became sad due to the mourning of the family members. After the last darshan, all the bodies were taken to Baikunth Dham located on the banks of Bathua river in Rudrapur for last rites.

Thousands of people participated in the last journey. During this, slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Satyawan Singh Amar Rahe kept resonating. Separate pyres were prepared for the four dead bodies at Baikuntha Dham. There is a wave of mourning in the entire area due to the death of four people simultaneously.

According to the family members, everyone was returning to the village with full respect to perform the last rites by bringing the dead body of Satyavan Singh. No one had any idea that such a tragedy was waiting for them on the way even before they reached home.

The family members were returning to bid last farewell to the person, along with whom his only son, elder brother and relatives also departed from this world. Regional leaders including Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi arrived. Attended the last farewell of an army soldier.

Wife asked for compensation
Sarojini Devi, wife of Subedar Major Satyawan Singh, informed District Magistrate Madhusudan Hulgi and Superintendent of Police Abhijit R. By giving a letter to Shankar, he has demanded from the Chief Minister to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 crore to each dependent family.

He has also demanded construction of a grand archway in the name of Satyawan Singh in the village, allotment of petrol pump in his name and giving government jobs to the family members. The family has appealed to the government for all possible help in this hour of grief.
