New York. New York Mayor Zoharan Mamdani condemned Hamas in a statement issued on the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 07, 2023, expressing condolences to the victims of the attack.
However, the bulk of his statement focused on criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza. Mamdani accused Israel of “ongoing genocide” and “apartheid” in Gaza.
Mamdani said that October 7 is a very painful day for many people of New York. He said that Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and took 251 hostage that day. He said that he joins the grief of the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
After this, he mentioned the situation in Gaza and alleged that more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed there in the Israeli government’s action, including more than 21,000 children. Mamdani also claimed that more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed even after the so-called ceasefire.
Mamdani also accused Israeli attacks of targeting ambulances, residential buildings and journalists outside hospitals and blocking humanitarian aid. He said that American taxpayers’ money is being used to finance these actions.
He said that after three years a situation cannot be accepted in which occupation and apartheid continue and there is no accountability for war crimes. He also accused the US government of allegedly colluding with Israel through the supply of arms.
