Jagatsinghpur: Taking action against corruption in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, Odisha Vigilance has caught a programmer of the District Education Officer cum District Project Coordinator office taking bribe. The accused has been identified as Chandrajeet Parija. He is working as a programmer in the office of District Education Officer/District Project Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan located in Jagatsinghpur.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information, Chandrajeet Parija was caught taking a bribe of Rs 30 thousand. It is alleged that he had asked for this amount from the complainant to clear the pending bills related to the work of installing digital blackboards in schools. It is being told that the complainant was given the work of installing digital blackboards in different schools of Jagatsinghpur district. After completion of the work, payment of his bill was pending.
Demand for bribe of Rs 30 thousand
It is alleged that Chandrajit Parija used to inspect these works as a member of the Purchase and Technical Committee. The bill was to be issued in favor of the person concerned only after the work was inspected and certified by him. The complainant had complained to Vigilance that he had requested the accused several times to inspect the work and issue the bill, but no action was taken in this direction. Instead, according to the allegation, Chandrajit Parija demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 to get the bill issued.
Frustrated with the demand for bribe, the complainant informed the matter to Odisha Vigilance. Based on the complaint, Vigilance planned action. After this, on October 8, 2026, the Vigilance team caught Chandrajeet Parija while taking a bribe of Rs 30 thousand. The entire amount of bribe i.e. Rs 30 thousand was recovered from the possession of the accused and confiscated. Let us tell you that earlier in the raid at the premises of Panchayat Executive Officer in Bargarh district of Odisha, 35 plots and lakhs of rupees in cash were recovered.
Rs 3.21 lakh cash found during search
After he was caught taking bribe, Vigilance started a simultaneous search operation at three locations linked to Chandrajit Parija. This search is being conducted as part of investigation into aspects related to disproportionate assets. Later during the search, information about recovery of Rs 3.21 lakh in cash came to light. Vigilance has also recovered and confiscated this cash.
Case registered under these sections
In this matter, Cuttack Vigilance Police Station Case No. 39, dated 07 October 2026, has been registered by Vigilance. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. At present investigation is going on against Chandrajeet Parija. Vigilance is also continuing the search at the hideouts of the accused. More information is likely to emerge in this case after the search is completed.
