Mumbai Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the opposition regarding the march taken out till the Supreme Court in Delhi. He also expressed fear of involvement of foreign forces and international conspiracy in this entire incident. However, he did not present any concrete evidence in support of these allegations.
Deputy Chief Minister Shinde was talking to journalists here today. He criticized Rahul Gandhi and the India Alliance, terming the India Alliance’s march to the Supreme Court as a ‘black day’ in the country’s history. He alleged that an attempt was made to put pressure on the judiciary. He said that the Indian Constitution has given the country strong constitutional institutions and the independence of the judiciary must be respected.
Shinde said that trying to create pressure by marching to the Supreme Court is unfortunate. He said that it is everyone’s right to protest in a democracy, but such protest is not appropriate in matters related to the judiciary. He also demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and the India Alliance for the alleged attack on the Indian judiciary.
Accusing the opposition of creating instability in the country, he said that some foreign forces are trying to weaken the country. He expressed apprehension that the march in Delhi could be part of some international conspiracy. He said that the opposition is not able to compete with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the elections, hence it is trying to create a political atmosphere through such movements.
Shinde described the opposition’s strategy as dangerous for the country and alleged that it could harm the democratic system and constitutional institutions. Referring to the Emergency, he asked the opposition that if there was actually an Emergency in the country, would people have been able to march to the Supreme Court like this and express their opinion openly? He said that in a democracy there is a right to express one’s views, but it is not right to insult the judiciary again and again.
He also accused the opposition of trying to weaken the Constitution. On the controversy related to the voter list, Shinde claimed that no injustice will be done to anyone and the process of registering names in the voter list is available through Form-6. He accused the opposition of creating unnecessary controversy over election issues and trying to take political advantage. He said that the intention behind the opposition’s activities is to gain power. He also targeted the opposition for continuously protesting against Prime Minister Modi.
