Journey from Good Samaritan to Rahveer Yojana
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had launched the scheme to reward Good Samaritan on 3 October 2021. Under this, in the first financial cycle, 36 Good Samaritans were given a prize money of Rs 5,000 each. After this, on 21 April 2025, the Ministry released the Good Samaritan Scheme with the new name ‘Raahveer Scheme’. In this, the prize money was increased to Rs 25 thousand per traveler. The Ministry has given instructions to continue the scheme in the 16th financial cycle. In this sequence, through letter dated 21 September 2026, Rs 10 lakh has been made available to Uttar Pradesh for distribution of awards.
Preparation to give awards to 27 passers-by in Uttar Pradesh
According to the Transport Department, there is a proposal to give prize money of Rs 25-25 thousand to 27 travelers in Uttar Pradesh. For this, proposals have been prepared on the basis of the recommendations of the District Road Safety Committee. In September 2026, a request was made to the Central Government to provide funds to reward these road warriors. Now the provision of Rs 10 lakh by the Ministry will help in taking forward the process of award distribution.
Those who help road accident victims will get incentives
The objective of Rahveer Yojana is to honor the citizens who help in timely sending a seriously injured person to the hospital in a road accident and save his life. It is very important to get medical help early after an accident. In such a situation, the main objective of this scheme is to encourage people who help the injured without any selfishness by giving them financial rewards. Under the scheme, eligible citizens are rewarded for their contribution in taking the accident victim to the hospital and providing medical aid within the golden hour i.e. the critical first one hour after the accident. This may inspire people to come forward to help the injured in road accidents.
Arrangement to deliver prize money directly to beneficiaries
To provide prize money to the travelers, Rs 10 lakh has been released in the e-Kuber CNA account of the Transport Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, Reserve Bank of India. Through this system, the process of providing award money to the approved beneficiaries will be completed.
