Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure strict punishment to those responsible for theft of offerings at the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya.
AAP said that BJP has come to power by taking advantage of the sentiments related to Ram temple, it should not give protection to those who betray the faith of the devotees. Citing 105 incidents of theft of offerings, Aman Arora demanded a thorough investigation into the role of senior officials and questioned why accountability should be limited to junior employees only.
Aman Arora said that more than one lakh Ram devotees of Punjab have written a letter to Prime Minister Modi demanding justice and wrote, “A call of Ram devotees, this time the donation thieves should be punished.”
Arora said, “Lakhs of Ram devotees donated their hard-earned money with unwavering faith and devotion in the construction of Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya. If the money donated by devotees has been misused, it is a betrayal of their faith. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ensure that everyone found guilty gets the harshest punishment.”
The AAP Punjab president said, “I am raising this issue not as an AAP leader or party president, but as a Ram devotee who understands the pain of millions of people across Punjab. People across the country celebrated the construction of Shri Ram Temple with immense joy and donated generously from their hard-earned savings to this holy project. Their faith and contribution deserve respect.”
Displaying bundles of letters received from various parts of Punjab, the Cabinet Minister, Punjab AAP President, said, “More than one lakh Ram devotees of Punjab have voluntarily written letters to Prime Minister Modi urging him to intervene and ensure justice. These letters have come from around 22,000 polling stations in the state. We will present these to the Prime Minister as a collective appeal of devotees who want accountability and strict action against all those found guilty.”
He said, “When serious questions are being raised on the role of senior officials and those handling the affairs of the temple, why should the accountability be limited to the lower level employees? If there have been repeated incidents of theft, then the responsibility of those looking after the institution should also be investigated.”
