To accelerate the infrastructure and business development of Raipur city, a proposal for eight schemes worth Rs 2,853 crore has been prepared under the Urban Challenge Fund. These schemes and their financial management will be discussed in the workshop organized today in Nava Raipur.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai will inaugurate the workshop. Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao are also scheduled to participate in the program.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, a proposal for eight big schemes worth ₹2,853 crore has been prepared to give a new boost to the infrastructure and urban development of Raipur.
The main objective of this ambitious investment is to improve the traffic system, create modern infrastructure and promote economic activities in the areas of the capital Raipur and Nava Raipur.
It has been told that new flyovers and overpasses will be constructed to reduce traffic pressure at the busiest intersections of the city.
Main roads will be converted into four-lane and new connectivity link roads will be built to improve connectivity between Raipur and surrounding industrial areas. Modern sewage network will be expanded for drainage and treatment of dirty water.
There are plans to develop a ‘growth corridor’ and commercial hub between Raipur and Nava Raipur which officials say will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
There is a plan to build a new SCADA based water treatment and supply network to provide clean water to every household. A Rs 675 crore plan will focus on improving the water supply in the city.
Such detailed development plans are part of the larger roadmap of the state’s ‘Industrial Development Policy 2024-30’ and Vision 2047, under which Chhattisgarh aims to be included among the leading states of the country in terms of investment and infrastructure.
According to the proposal, the projects are expected to receive Rs 713 crore from the central government and Rs 682 crore from the state government. Possibilities of raising the remaining Rs 1,458 crore from banks and other external financial sources will be considered.
The aim of these projects is to improve the city’s facilities, transportation system, water management and business activities. However, the actual progress of the proposed schemes and the timeline of construction works will depend on the relevant approvals.
