US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has confirmed the accident. According to him, the ‘Learjet 60’ plane was going from Austin, Texas to Bahamas.

Meanwhile, the pilot informed about bad weather, accumulation of ice on the plane and strong turbulence. The pilot had sought permission from air traffic control to take the plane two thousand feet higher.
The pilot said that light transparent ice was accumulating on the plane and light turbulence was being felt. After this, the situation started deteriorating rapidly.
According to the recording, the plane suddenly started losing altitude rapidly. Initially it started falling at a speed of 10 thousand feet per minute, then 20 thousand feet and later 30 thousand feet per minute.
During this time the speed of the aircraft exceeded its design limit. The pilot sent an emergency message saying that the plane was going down very fast.
