Benefit of old age pension to 1.67 lakh elderly people in Prayagraj

Prayagraj. Yogi Government’s National Old Age Pension Scheme is helping the elderly in living a dignified life by providing them economic and social security.

The pension amount is being sent directly to the Aadhaar linked bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

This has eliminated the role of middlemen and brought transparency in the pension distribution system. This information was given by District Social Welfare Officer Ramshankar Patel on Friday.

He told that with increasing age, the sources of income of the elderly become limited and they have to depend on others for their needs.

In such a situation, the old age pension scheme of the state government is providing them financial support. With the regular assistance provided under the scheme, the elderly are able to meet their medicines, daily needs and other essential expenses.

According to the data of Social Welfare Department, a total of 1,67,536 elderly people of Prayagraj district were given the benefit of old age pension in the financial year 2025-26.

At the same time, as part of efforts to connect more and more eligible elderly people to the scheme, 26,335 new applications have been approved. Due to this, the scope of the scheme has increased in the district and more needy elderly people have got social security.

Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Aseem Arun says that the state government is committed to providing economic and social security to every eligible elderly.

Pension is being sent directly to the bank accounts through DBT, so that the needy can get the benefits of the scheme without any hindrance and can live with dignity.
