Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister calls for coordinated efforts to increase coffee cultivation






Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for coordinated efforts to expand coffee cultivation in the state, increase productivity and quality of coffee beans and enhance farmers' income through strong value chains.

Addressing the 'Hills to Cup' coffee workshop organized by the Coffee Board of India and the state Agriculture Department, the Chief Minister said that coffee has been cultivated in Arunachal Pradesh for nearly five decades, but its full potential has not been utilized yet. He said that at present coffee is being cultivated in about six hundred hectares of area in the state.

Shri Khandu said that the government will take further action on the suggestions given in the workshop and will provide all possible assistance to the coffee growers. He also urged the youth to come forward in coffee cultivation, processing and related businesses. He said that with the increasing tourism in the state, there is a lot of potential for employment and entrepreneurship in these areas.
