Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed concern over the protests by MBBS doctors in the capital. He has demanded reforms in the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) and accountability from the government regarding the health services of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. Kejriwal raised the issue of doctors' protest through his official X handle on Thursday. He said that the government should clarify the situation regarding issues related to FMGE and healthcare services in GTB hospital. He appealed to the government to seriously consider these matters and address the concerns of the parties concerned.
Doctors are demanding reforms in the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) and accountability regarding the examination process. The demonstration is being held at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park in Gautam Nagar, New Delhi. National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has expressed concern over the performance of doctors and demanded accountability from the Central Government. Kejriwal wrote on social media platform X on Thursday that thousands of doctors are protesting in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park. He said the protesters are demanding accountability from the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which comes under the Union health ministry.
Demand for improvement in FMGE
The main demand of the protesting doctors is related to improvement in FMGE. This examination deals with eligibility to practice medicine in India for Indian and other eligible medical graduates who have completed their medical studies abroad. Doctors say that there is a need to improve the examination and the process related to it. Regarding this they are seeking answers from the government and the concerned examination body. Kejriwal also raised the issue of healthcare services at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi along with FMGE. He has demanded the government to fix accountability in matters related to health services.

Doctor on hunger strike for eight days
Kejriwal told in his post that Dr. Jaswant Yadav along with other doctors is on hunger strike for the last eight days. Doctors are demanding improvements in FMGE. He said that Aam Aadmi Party supports the demands of the doctors. According to Kejriwal, this is not just a protest, but a fight for the dignity, transparency and future of doctors. Kejriwal also said that former MLA and AAP leader Somnath Bharti is in touch with the protesting doctors. The party has said that it will support the demands of the doctors.
Police-MCD accused of creating obstacles under pressure from BJP
Kejriwal accused the police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) of obstructing the peaceful movement of the protesters. He claimed that under the pressure of BJP, the police and MCD are creating every possible obstacle in the ongoing peaceful movement of the protesters. Kejriwal said that protesting peacefully is a right given to citizens by the Constitution. He appealed to the administration to allow the protesters to present their demands peacefully. Kejriwal also informed that former MLA and AAP leader Somnath Bharti is in touch with the protesting doctors. The party has expressed support for the demands of the doctors.
Saurabh Bhardwaj surrounded GTB hospital
At the same time, Delhi AAP State President Saurabh Bhardwaj raised questions about the functioning of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, which is among the major government hospitals of the capital. Bhardwaj claimed on X that patients in the hospital were facing difficulty in getting medicines prescribed by doctors. He also alleged that adequate facilities for scans and diagnostic tests are not available in the hospital, due to which patients have to turn to private hospitals. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that this situation shows what kind of problems people undergoing treatment in government hospitals are facing.
